3 White Tees for Right Now - Womenswear Edit
Before you start adding clothes to your collection, especially the basics, we need to talk about removing the unkempt articles that have seen their best day. Ditch those distressed, stained white t-shirts that are not entirely white anymore, the ones with tiny (or large) holes in random spots, or any that have pilling build-up in friction-focused areas. Thanks to the appeal of Carmy in “the Bear,” and the ensuing articles that have popped up in notable media, yes the WSJ piece, this notably includes sad and saggy necklines.
Eliminating is the first step, now, which white tee to add to your closet?
There are millions (well, maybe thousands but it sure feels like there is an infinite abundance of this staple) out there, and at the end of the day, the t-shirt needs to be right for you. I’ve tried many white t-shirts on, shopped endlessly for my 6’6” tall husband who doesn’t exactly fit “off-the-rack,” and have found these few womenswear and menswear styles that I, my clients, and friends all swear by.

1.FRAME V-Neck
This 100% cotton is a light-weight tee (slightly sheer, but not see-through), with a dolman/cap sleeve, deep v-neck t-shirt is slightly oversized. Great for a front tuck into jeans or joggers. If you’re not a v-neck fan, I’d pass on this tee.

A semi-fitted, organic cotton classic crewneck, this strikes the right balance between fitted and oversized t-shirts. The subtle ribbed crew collar adds personality to an otherwise basic top. The shape is straight and not overly long. If you’re over 5’11,” I would go for the Theory tee above, and not this one as it might be too short on you.
Pair it with any bottom and no need to tuck it in as it’s the right shape and length. Finish the look off with a “shacket,” aka a shirt & jacket in one, and with a cool sneaker.

These t-shirts are all cotton or cotton-blends, therefore, avoid putting them in the dryer. Wash on a cool setting with other white items. Avoid other “light” colored laundry, as sometimes a light color can accidentally transfer to the white tee creating a whole new color! For preserving and avoiding spotting/stains, use stain remover in underarm areas or new spots. Treat with the stain tool for about 10-minutes prior to washing.
