Dressing Up More?
Are you getting dressed up more lately?
This past week alone, I dressed my clients for a gala, bat mitzvah, bar mitzvah, luncheon, speaking engagement, wedding (guest), dinner party, board meeting, multiple weekend trips, conference, art gallery opening, and packed someone for a trip overseas. Schedules are back in full swing, which means dressing up is, too.
Though dress codes are shifting - I was recently at an event that called for creative cocktail, which led to receiving many befuddled text message inquiries - it’s still cause to break out your sartorial treasures or add new styles to spruce up your collection.
According to McKinsey and The Business of Fashion’s collaborative State of Fashion 2022 report, the wardrobe reboot that’s occurring is leading many to think differently and with an open mind about what will be worn.
“Looking ahead, there will likely be increased appetite for experimentation and self-expression as consumers seek out more playful and energetic ways of dressing, boosting demand for novel designs, more adventurous colourways and creative pairings across categories in 2022.”
The report goes on to share, according to Lyst.com, an uptick in searches (compared to the height of the pandemic): a dramatic spike in “occasion dresses” and a nearly double increase in page views for “heels.”
So tell me, what are you wearing for your next event?
