WHAT IS A PERSONAL/WARDROBE STYLIST?
A personal (or sometimes referred to as wardrobe) stylist is someone who helps clients clarify, refine, and achieve overall looks for all or specific parts of their lives. Generally, a stylist will advise individuals on honing an authentic sense of style based on lifestyle, body type, comfort, and complimentary aesthetic preferences. Additional to clarifying an individuals style, a stylist conducts closet edits; removing no longer necessary/dated items, reselling goods or donating/disposing of, and curates full looks with existing and new pieces in clients wardrobes aligned with all aspects of their lifestyle. A stylist does act as a personal shopper and will either shop for you or take you shopping, and typically does so with full knowledge of you, your existing clothing collection, and the type of look that you are seeking. These looks can be for daily outfits, special events, speaking engagement or appearances, travel, or indeed anything unique in your life.
A study released a few years ago (Mark’s & Spencer) found that women on average spend 17 minutes each morning trying to find an outfit to wear to work. This amounts to four days a year, and six months of our working lives searching for something to wear to the office. The majority of women struggle when getting dressed each day, but it should be easier. A stylist helps you streamline your wardrobe to minimize time and unwanted stress when getting dressed.
A personal stylist is a trusted member of your team. Their purpose to ultimately help you harness your style and ensure that getting dressed every morning is done effortlessly and pleasurably, and to feel confident with how you show up throughout your life.
DO YOU ONLY WORK IN SAINT LOUIS + NEW YORK CITY?
Not at all… while I have offices in Saint Louis and NYC, I gladly hop on a plane and come to you! Once we complete your initial closet edit in-home session, a lot can be done remotely which helps make your life more efficient when planning for upcoming events! We can do video calls, text, and share shoppable links with complete look books built out. I love to travel and spend time helping you cultivate your wardrobe and style.
WHO IS YOUR TYPICAL CLIENT?
At this time I exclusively work with women on personal styling and shopping excursions. Every woman that I work with is dynamic in their own way which makes this work exciting and special. These women are mothers, CEO’s, founders, executives, teachers, lawyers, volunteers, consultants and more. It’s also a very personal and intimate type of consulting work.
IS THERE A MINIMUM TIME COMMITMENT?
With my service offerings, new clients are required to go through the new client form + closet edit - this is the critical first step in diving into your wardrobe, lifestyle, goals and building out the foundation for working together. This typically takes 9-12 hours of your total time and attention. It’s generally spread out over 1-2 days. On demand services post-closet edit are billed at two hour minimum increments.
HOW MUCH ARE YOUR SERVICES?
My hourly fee is $200 per hour. I do have a new client closet edit styling discounted package built out and happy to share when we speak. This is a partnership where I am a steward to help you tap into your own unique style and requires a comprehensive approach so I can be best equipped to help you throughout our partnership. Additional services including shopping, travel & special events styling, is billed at a two-hour minimum and I do create customizable packages and hourly bundle purchases.
It’s a minor investment in yourself that yields a major life change. Here’s what existing clients have to say about partnering together.
WHY DO I NEED A STYLIST?
