Laura K. Sawyier, stylist + creative consultant
Growing up in the suburbs afforded me plenty of quiet time to let my imagination run wild and free, and fashion and design were my forms of idealistic escapism. My artistic expression manifested in designing clothing and soft goods for Barbie, painting the walls in her dream-house with nail polish, and making personal costumes and "looks" (typically with a glue gun, safety pins, and any material at my disposal). Needless to say, Barbie was my first client.
I began my career nearly a decade ago working for Renny & Reed, an international floral and event design firm headquartered in New York City, producing and styling memorable events and experiences for global brands, prestigious institutions, and private clients. My passion for visual expression, fashion and design expanded during my tenure at R&R while working with numerous fashion houses and beauty brands including Hermès, L'Oréal, Monique Lhuillier and Dennis Basso.
Upon moving to Saint Louis in 2014, I worked with multiple firms designing and producing - from product launches and fashion shows to private dinners and charitable galas. After a year of leading a start-up design firm as creative director, it was time for me to step out on my own and launch my eponymous consulting firm.
Working in event design has fostered a process of eliciting and realizing clients' vision and values through lived experiences. The way we express ourselves is an integral part of our storytelling. This notion propelled me into helping women cultivate their sense of style and continue on my creative journey in fashion, editorial and commercial styling, and special projects.
LK Sawyier Styling is based out of Saint Louis and New York City and travels internationally for clients.
